We’re proud to present a very special photographic exhibition from Celebrate T21 in February, celebrating the lives of more than 100 incredible people with Down syndrome across Australia.
Featuring beautiful images captured by more than 60 photographers around the country, the photos celebrate the diversity of people with Down syndrome from pregnancy through to childhood and into adulthood.
Celebrate T21 is a small business based in the Illawarra, which operates a national community service: supporting and advocating for people with Down syndrome and their families.
The exhibition by Celebrate T21 is an opportunity to shine a light on the lives of people with Down syndrome, also known as Trisomy 21, and also to remove outdated stigmas around the condition.
Celebrate T21 have produced two beautiful photo books to celebrate the lives and experiences of families who have a member with Down syndrome through wonderful photos and heartfelt stories - an Australian version of the book was published in 2018, and a UK version for British charity Wouldn’t Change a Thing in 2019.
This exhibition is a sneak peek into the newest Celebrate T21 photobook, which is due to be launched on World Down Syndrome Day, 21 March 2021.
The book will feature photos of more than 170 amazing people with Down syndrome and their families, and these books are gifted to families receiving a prenatal or postnatal (up to three months) diagnosis of Down syndrome, as part of a gorgeous Celebrate T21 gift pack.
“Our hope is to provide all families with a new diagnosis of Down syndrome in Australia with this very special gift pack, which welcomes them into the supportive Celebrate T21 community, and provides comfort when it is most needed” - Stephanie Rodden, founder, Celebrate T21.
The exhibition has been made possible through fundraising by the families who feature in the book, and more than 2,000 copies of the book will be distributed for free across Australia by organisations such as Down Syndrome Australia, Heart Kids, T21 Mum Network Australia, 321 Pregnancy Care, 21 Gifts and through doctors and specialists.
